Toward ISO39001 Certification

Toward ISO39001 Certification
In recent years in the various regions around the world, along with the progress in modes of transport, roads are being built and past inconveniences are being eliminated. The result of this is increasingly active movement of people and goods. On the other hand, it is estimated that more than 1.3 million people around the world lose their lives and more than 50 million people are injured in traffic accidents every year. Under these circumstances, there is growing international attention being focused on road traffic safety initiatives. This includes the United Nations’ proclamation of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020.

Traffic accidents not only mean economic loss for an organization. They are a serious matter that can result in loss in trust in the organization, and even a crisis for the very existence of the business. The ISO39001 Road Traffic Safety Management Systems certification calls for an organization to implement a number of management system requirements for road traffic safety as part of its social responsibility, by raising employee morale and reducing accidents. In such systems, all companies and organizations involved in “people, roads, and vehicles” introduce risk management methods from the planning stages, record, investigate and analyze accidents and near misses, and take corrective and preventive measures in response to accidents, with the aim of reducing fatalities and serious injuries from road traffic accidents and mitigating the costs of losses due to accidents.

At Sakura Kotsu, as a public transport business, with an RTS policy of “Safety Above All Else,” we are working to obtain ISO39001 certification for the further enhancement of safety and improvement of services for our customers.
